Giltspur Scientific Ltd. was founded in 1991 in Ballyclare, Northern Ireland by Dr Ernest Logan. Dr Logan is renowned for inventing the plastic orthopaedic shoe for dairy cows, popularly known as Cowslips or Sabottines, which have become a global sensation. These shoes have significantly improved the welfare of millions of dairy cows by reducing the pain associated with lameness. 

The Cowslip has received numerous prestigious awards, including The Prince Philip Award for Merit, The New Zealand National Fieldays Award of Merit, and the highly esteemed Inel d'Or Sante Animale.

Building on the success of Cowslips, Giltspur Scientific Ltd. launched a revolutionary innovation in equine hoof care, known as Horse-Slips. Horse-Slips™ have already won the highly acclaimed Invest Northern Ireland SMART award and recently received recognition in the Contour Innovative Equine Product competition.

These innovative products incorporate modern design and application techniques and represent an exciting new addition to the Giltspur hoof care range.

Giltspur Scientific Ltd. also has a sister company, Linnodee Diagnostics, which is involved in pioneering scientific research to develop specialised diagnostic test kits for veterinary and medical practitioners, as well as diagnostic laboratories.

Giltspur Scientific has recently transitioned into a comprehensive online store for all agricultural products, offering customers a wide selection of goods to meet their agricultural needs.
